DEBATE

Good day respected judges, my worthy opponents, faculty members and audiences.
Thank you all for joining us today to discuss this very important issue.

As previously stated we are hereby standing
that the BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) movement is an effective strategy for advocating for Palestinian rights."

The Israel-Palestine conflict is a long-standing and complex dispute between Israelis and Palestinians over territory, borders, and political sovereignty.

The Israel-Palestine conflict remains a deeply sensitive and contentious issue, and achieving a lasting and mutually acceptable resolution continues to be a major challenge. The conflict has had a profound impact on the lives of Israelis and Palestinians.

(Now there's this what we called (BDS) Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions- it is a Palestinian-led, global movement for freedom, justice and equality. BDS upholds the simple principle that Palestinians are entitled to the same rights as the rest of humanity.)

The question is, why it is beneficial??

1.BDS movement will serve as an  eye opener to Israeli government to reconsider their policies"

Deprivation of the right to self-determination, extrajudicial killings ,Settlements, borders, security and water rights as well as Palestinian freedom of movement and the Palestinian right of return are some of the human rights violation of Israel to Palestinian people.

The growth and success of the BDS movement sends a clear message of hope and inspiration to Palestinians and to world governments that people around the world are increasingly unwilling to accept Israel's oppression to  Palestinians.

The BDS movement aims to end international complicity in the Israeli regime of occupation, apartheid and settler colonialism.

No state, whether apartheid South Africa in the past or apartheid Israel today, has a right to be racist or supremacist, privileging part of its population based on identity, and excluding another part, which happens to be the indigenous nation.” Each BDS success generates media attention and shines a light on the just Palestinian struggle for rights .
The BDS movement is leading a tidal change in perceptions and approaches to Israel’s regime of oppression.

The point here is that the Israeli government now recognizes the potential of the BDS movement as a “strategic threat” to its system of injustice.

2.It is beneficial in the sense that the BDS movement can raise  awareness and call urges action to the world to take moral instances

•First > Respecting, protecting and promoting the rights of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes and properties

•2nd> Ending its occupation and colonization of all Arab lands and dismantling the Wall
International law recognises the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, Gaza and the Syrian Golan Heights as occupied by Israel.

• 3rd  ,Granting Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel their right to full equality

Ten years since its launch, BDS is now widely supported by unions, academic associations, churches and movements across the world.

3. Economic Pressure

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement seeks to pressure Israel to comply with international law and Palestinian rights. Its strategies include promoting boycotts of Israeli goods and services, divestment from companies involved in the Israeli occupation, and sanctions against Israel until it meets specific demands related to Palestinian rights. It is beneficial because The movement aims to raise awareness and generate public pressure to bring about political change.

Israel suffered decades of Arab boycott, starting at its birth in 1948. In a primary boycott, Arab states didn’t trade with Israel, making it an economic island. This raised the costs of trade considerably, making the country reliant on less secure supplies of basic commodities and energy resources. In a secondary boycott, Arab and other states threatened sanctions against firms that traded with Israel, dramatically limiting the number of companies willing to trade with the then-poor state. Common consumer goods of international brands—Pepsi, Toyota, and many others—could not be readily found in Israel, and, more important by far, Israeli industry could not rely on the inputs of a wide range of raw materials and industrial products from third parties who were fearful of the secondary boycott. The Israeli government is thus doing itself a disservice by paying so much attention to this movement.

The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement was part of a concerted effort by the Israeli government to counter BDS, viewed by Israeli leaders as a serious diplomatic threat.

The premise of the strategy is twofold, therefore: that international pressure will exert a dramatic toll on Israel and on Israeli citizens, and that Israelis will then see and make a choice for a political path out of this pressure.

Our opponent may say

There are so many legitimate reasons to support BDS.(it is badly needed)

A call like this must be answered.
We must support BDS because there is no instant solution  in town; there is no better alternative movement that can harness public concern about Israeli policies toward Palestinians.

I urge you to support BDS as one path towards the peace
